About the Study: Teamwork

The study is being led by McHenry County Division of Transportation and supported by Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The lead consultant for the study is HDR Inc., an architecture and engineering firm. Four additional sub-consultants and one vendor - each with unique expertise - will support HDR Inc.

	The McHenry County Division of Transportation is a full service transportation agency that is involved with other agencies of local government. The goal of the Division is to provide transportation and planning to address the demands of maintaining the ever increasing lane miles in McHenry County in a safe and efficient manner and to implement improved access management policies.
	Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is responsible for planning, design, construction, and maintenance of Illinois' extensive transportation network, which encompasses, highways and bridges, airports, public transit, rail freight and rail passenger systems. IDOT provides safe, cost-effective transportation for Illinois in ways that enhance quality of life, promote economic prosperity, and demonstrate respect for the environment. IDOT will be a reviewing agency.
	Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) carries out the Federal highway programs in partnership with the State and local agencies to meet the Nation's transportation needs. FHWA adds value to the delivery of the Federal highway programs by administering and overseeing these programs to ensure that Federal funds are used efficiently. FHWA will be a reviewing agency.
	HDR is a nationally recognized architectural and engineering firm that has provided planning, design, and construction consulting services to private and public clients for over 85 years. In 2004, HDR ranked #10 among transportation firms, #8 in Highways, and #19 in ENR’s Top 500 Design Firms. The Randall Road Improvements Study is lead by HDR’s Chicago office.
	Baxter and Woodman, Inc. (Wetlands, Local Coordination, Traffic Operations, Hydraulics/Hydrology, Topographic Survey) was founded in 1946. They are a full service firm serving communities throughout Northeast Illinois, Southeast Wisconsin, and Northwest Indiana. They have completed projects within McHenry County for the past 58 years.
	Wilbur Smith Associates (WSA) (Travel Demand Modeling, Socioeconomics) provides professional services in the fields of transportation engineering, planning, and economics. WSA maintains 50 offices throughout the United States including Chicago and Lisle offices in Illinois. WSA Chicago office will be responsible for this project.
	Robert H. Anderson and Associates, Inc. is among the most experienced civil engineering firms in northern Illinois. The focus of the firm is to serve governmental clients with professional engineering services for all facets of public works, including roads and bridges, traffic studies, storm water management, survey, and water/wastewater needs.
	The Geotechnical Services Group at SCI Engineering offers a staff of geotechnical engineers and geologists who have experience with the varied subsurface conditions encountered across the State of Illinois. The Environmental Services Group at SCI Engineering offers a staff of environmental engineers who have extensive experience with the handling and disposal of special and hazardous waste materals.
